NSO Palawan conducted PSQ Provincial Elimination -- Finds Stat Whiz from PSU

     A simple freshman student named Elcid M. Bucacao of Palawan State University triumped as the Provincial Champion in the 19th Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ).

     Held in Palawan National School Function Hall in Puerto Princesa City on October 21, 2010, the 19th PSQ Provincial Elimination became instrumental in heralding college freshman statistics wizard in the province. The contest boasted 0f thriteen (13) highly competent freshman students from Palawan State University (PSU), Holy Trinity University (HTU), and System Technology Institute (STI) competing for a chance to be a winner in the field of statistics in the province.

    Early on, Mr. Bucacao already showed superiority as he finish the first roundwith an eight (8) score and went on to win the provincial championship with twenty-four (24) accumulated points againts the twenty-two(22) points of the second placer Mr. Mark Dominic J. Pascua and twenty-one (21) points of the third placer Mr. Jer Japhet M. Yu.

    Mr. Elcid M. Bucacao is a very simple looking lad which upon mere observation, nobody will expect him to be th ewinner. As the competition starts, he then showed confidence and superb performance in answering the quiz. He takes every questions with ocused mind and confidence with the will to overcome the challenge.    

     The activity was attended by the PNS Principal IV Ms. Nenita Capague who delivered th eopening remarks with vigor and optimism.

    Equally inspiring in his mesage was Palawan PSO Benjamin P. Quintero who seized the oppurtunity of sharing the desire of the agency in discovering young statistician in the early stage of their education.

    Stat. II Ma. Laline M. Rodriguez served as the quiz master. PSO Benjamin P. Quintero headed the board of judegs with Ms. Eden E. cardano and Ms. Loida M. Tolentino, both of them are Mathematics Teacher of PSU.

    Even the judges were amazed at stistical ability of the contestant and express astonishment on the level of difficulty of the questions iven during the uiz.

    On November 23, 2010, Elcid M. Bucacao will compete on the 19th PSQ Regional Championship at the Regional Centers as contestant from the province of Palawan.
